Six weeks until the store you have is the store you trade with.
Most Shopify merchants freeze their code around November 1st. Whatever is live on October 31st —the slow mobile PDP, the app you stopped using in 2026, the checkout nobody has load-tested—is what carries you through Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This is a fixed-scope sprint to find those things, fix them, and prove they hold under load, with time to spare.

3 Weeks
8 Sprints
Fri 9 Oct
The same three problems, on almost every store.
None of them are hard to fix. They are just hard to fix in November — which is when most merchants find out about them.
31 apps installed
Nine of them doing nothing at all
Review widgets from a platform they had already left. Two analytics scripts measuring the same event. An upsell app switched off in admin that still loads its JavaScript on every single page.
4.1s to interactive
On the mobile product page
Every merchant we tested believed they were around two seconds. Their own desktop browsers, with warm caches, had been telling them so for a year.
0 load tests run
Checkout has never been tested at peak
Shopify handles Shopify. It does not handle a third-party inventory sync that starts timing out at 4× normal order volume — which is something you discover at 9pm on Black Friday.
Five deliverables, in this order.
The sequence matters: we do not touch code until you have seen the findings and agreed what is worth the two weeks of engineering.
1 Full store audit
Core Web Vitals on real devices and real network conditions, app bloat and script waterfall, theme and section conflicts, checkout drop-off analysis, and the mobile PDP end to end.
2 Findings call
A prioritised fix list ranked by revenue impact, not by severity. A P1 that costs you $40 a month sits below a P3 that costs you conversions on every mobile session.
3 Two weeks of engineering
We ship the fixes you signed off, on a staging theme, reviewed and QA'd, then deployed in batches so anything unexpected is easy to isolate.
4 Load test at 5× last year's peak
Synthetic traffic against your real checkout path and the integrations behind it — inventory sync, ERP, tax, shipping rates, subscriptions — at five times your BFCM 2026 peak.
5 Rollback plan and a named engineer
A documented, tested rollback for everything we touched, plus one named engineer who knows your store and is on standby from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.

Audit, agree, ship, prove.
Audit and findings
- Read-only access to theme, apps and analytics
- Field and lab performance data captured
- Checkout funnel and integration map
- Findings call, day 5 — you pick the fix list
Engineering
- Fixes built on a staging theme
- Batched deploys with a QA pass on each
- Daily written update, no status meetings
- Scope is fixed — no change requests mid-sprint
Load test and handover
- 5× peak load test, report shared same day
- Anything that breaks under load is fixed and retested
- Rollback plan documented and rehearsed
- Standby engineer briefed and introduced
One number, agreed before we start.
Not sure yet? Send your store URL and we will reply with the three biggest issues we can see from the outside, at no cost and with no call. If you are in decent shape, we will tell you that—we would rather say so than sell a sprint to someone who does not need one.

"Store migration was completed on-budget and two weeks ahead of schedule. TGL has an awesome team and would recommend them to anyone looking to migrate to Shopify."
"Working with Genie Lab has undoubtedly elevated our website—not just in terms of design, but with powerful functionality through custom app integrations that better align with how we connect with our customers and run our business."
"I have been working with Genie Lab for 5 months now. My website had crashed and I needed a landing page put up quickly, and then to develop a completely new site. It was a lot of work on both ends, me providing the content etc. and Fouzia building out the site from the theme we picked. I am SOOO happy with the outcome."
Questions we get
That is normal, and it is what the findings call is for. You choose what goes into the two weeks, ranked by revenue impact. Everything else stays on the list as a costed backlog you own — usable in December, or by your own team, or by another agency.
No. Roughly a third of these sprints run alongside an incumbent team, and the audit is written to be handed to them. We are happy to ship the fixes ourselves or to hand over the fix list and let them do it — the price is the same either way, because the audit and the load test are the parts that are hard to do in-house.
Concurrent sessions through the real purchase path — collection, PDP, cart, checkout — at five times your peak hour from BFCM 2026, with your live integrations connected in a test mode. Shopify's own infrastructure is not what fails. Inventory syncs, ERP webhooks, tax and rate calls, and subscription apps are.
Not for this year. A sprint starting October 12th finishes October 30th, which is the last week you can safely deploy and test before freeze. Starting later means shipping code into your peak season, and we will not do that.
Then it does not, and that is fine. Tell us and we will come back in December, when you can see what actually broke. That is usually the more useful conversation anyway.
Eight sprints · booking closes October 9th 2026
This deadline is your calendar, not our sales quarter.
The last sprint has to start on October 12th to be finished, tested, and signed off before your freeze. After that there is no version of this that is safe to run.
