The project began with a series of discovery sessions between TheGenieLab and Mimas Decor’s team, focusing on brand identity, product hierarchy, and user flow. Using collaborative tools like Monday.com, milestones were structured around content delivery, theme setup, and testing cycles.
TheGenieLab’s Shopify Plus Agency methodology emphasized clarity in scope — ensuring that design, development, and QA ran in sync with the client’s evolving creative direction. Every new component, from the registry to mobile navigation, was scoped and reviewed before implementation.
2. Shopify Theme Design & Development
A premium base Shopify theme was selected and extensively customized to fit the luxury aesthetic of Mimas Decor. The design team implemented a polished, minimalist visual framework emphasizing large imagery, product detail clarity, and intuitive navigation.
The development phase included:
- Header and footer setup consistent with luxury brand layout standards
- Homepage hero design variations and dynamic product blocks
- Custom typography, color palette, and spacing alignment
- Unique collection page templates for acrylics, crystalware, and decor sets
- Interactive blog and “About Us” sections with editorial formatting

3. Custom Gift Registry Integration
One of the key differentiators of this Shopify build was the development of a custom gift registry system. TheGenieLab engineered a registry owner and gifter interface, complete with account creation, wishlist functionality, and cart synchronization.

4. Product Catalog Setup & Navigation
TheGenieLab developed and optimized dozens of product collections. The team organized collections such as “Acrylic,” “Crystalware,” and “Decor & Gift Ideas,” ensuring they aligned with Mimas Decor’s merchandising strategy.
Tasks included:
- Building custom collection templates and tiles
- Refining mobile menu and mega-dropdown interactions
- Setting up search drawer spacing and alignment
- Creating quick links and footer collections for accessibility
The new Shopify store was built to support scalability — allowing Mimas Decor to easily add new collections and maintain structural consistency across the platform.
5. Mobile Optimization & Responsive QA
With over 70% of eCommerce traffic coming from mobile devices, TheGenieLab prioritized responsive behavior throughout the project. Hundreds of QA tickets were logged and resolved, including:
- Adjusting footer spacing and typography alignment
- Fixing cart drawer and menu interactions
- Correcting image scaling across product and collection pages
- Optimizing load times and layout consistency on iPads and tablets
- Implementing “Back to Top” functionality for long scroll pages
Cross-device testing was executed using both live devices and emulators, ensuring the Shopify theme delivered a seamless, touch-friendly experience.
6. QA, Testing & Refinement
A rigorous QA phase followed design completion, covering over 120 logged adjustments in areas like typography, spacing, link structure, and policy formatting. TheGenieLab’s QA specialists used detailed test cases to simulate real customer journeys, identifying and fixing issues proactively.
Examples of completed QA tasks include:

7. Content Migration & Launch Support
TheGenieLab handled all content migrations, from product data to blog articles. Policies, terms, and shipping information were rewritten in HTML-rich templates for readability. Product videos and imagery were formatted for web optimization, maintaining high visual fidelity.
Upon completing the Shopify build, TheGenieLab provided client training sessions on how to manage inventory, collections, and content. Post-launch support focused on refining registry performance, monitoring analytics, and implementing minor UX improvements based on customer behavior.
