Introduction

ShotKam, a global leader in sports shooting camera technology, has built a strong reputation for its high-quality cameras used by hunters, clay shooters, and competitive marksmen worldwide. Operating across five international Shopify Plus stores — USA, Canada, UK, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe — ShotKam required a powerful and flexible ecommerce infrastructure capable of supporting rapid growth, international expansion, and seamless customer experiences.

Over the past several years, ShotKam partnered with TheGenieLab, a Shopify Plus Agency, to transform its digital ecosystem. This partnership delivered significant improvements across conversion rate optimization (CRO), UI/UX design, Shopify API integrations, and Shopify custom integrations. TheGenieLab also provided ongoing technical and design support for ShotKam’s Help Center, hosted on Zendesk at support.shotkam.com, ensuring customers receive seamless after-sales assistance.

Additionally, to navigate Google Ads restrictions around keywords, ShotKam operates a lead-generation site, SportscameraTechnology.com, built and maintained by TheGenieLab, enabling targeted advertising campaigns without keyword violations. This innovative solution helped diversify ShotKam’s traffic sources and maximize marketing ROI.

Challenges Before Partnering with TheGenieLab

TheGenieLab applied a phased approach that combined ongoing support with transformative technical and design interventions. This included:

1. Shopify Plus Store Management

TheGenieLab ensured that all five ShotKam Shopify Plus stores maintained a unified brand identity while tailoring localized elements such as tax displays, VAT inclusions, and multilingual interfaces. 

2. UI/UX Enhancements

A series of A/B tests were conducted on buy pages, checkout flows, and accessory product placements. These tests identified friction points and optimized conversion pathways, such as improving “Add to Cart” visibility, refining pop-out cart behavior, and enhancing product comparison tools. 

3. Shopify Custom Integrations

Using the Shopify API, TheGenieLab developed custom integrations for:

  • Advanced sales tracking across all stores, enabling detailed campaign attribution.
  • Multi-currency and multi-language support, ensuring a frictionless international shopping experience.
  • Integration of ActiveCampaign forms, Judge.me reviews, and VAT compliance across EU and UK stores.

4. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

Extensive work on promotional campaigns, including Black FridayValentine’s DayMemorial Day, and Father’s Day, required rapid theme development and QA. By leveraging custom sale themes, improved promotional banners, and streamlined checkout CTAs, ShotKam consistently achieved conversion uplifts between 12–25% during key seasonal periods.

5. SportscameraTechnology.com Lead Generation

Due to restrictions on advertising for firearm-related products, TheGenieLab created SportscameraTechnology.com as a lead-generation platform. This Shopify Store was optimized for Google Ads, allowing ShotKam to advertise under permissible keywords while redirecting qualified traffic to its main stores. 

6. Zendesk Help Center

TheGenieLab also redesigned and continues to maintain ShotKam’s Zendesk-based Help Center. Key improvements included:

  • Multilingual support (Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish).
  • Streamlined navigation for troubleshooting guides and FAQs.
  • Integration with product manuals, setup videos, and customer support chat.
